Since adding support in 2015, more than 1 million 360 videos and 25 million 360 photos have been published on the social network, but it can be hard to find them amid all the other media. Those numbers, while impressive, represent just a drop of total Facebook uploads.

In its release, Facebook, which owns Oculus, boasts that more than 25 million VR photos and 1 million VR videos have been posted to the social media network so far. That's important, because otherwise media organisations and "content creators" will shy away from the format.

Available through the Oculus app on any Gear VR-compatible device, Facebook 360 makes it easier to discover 360 content in a more native way. The others serve up content from people and pages users are already following, saved videos and footage from their own timeline.

While we haven't yet gotten to try it in our own headset quite yet, Facebook bills it as a "one-stop shop" for 360-degree content from all the usual suspects: friends, brands, pages you follow, and any content you save or upload yourself.

The app will allow users to post reactions to content, while also being able to save and share 360 photos and videos.

Facebook claims that since rolling out support for 360-degree videos in 2015 more than 1m immersive videos and 25m 360-degree photos have been published by users.
