The University of Pittsburgh on Monday announced Heather Lyke as its new athletic director.

Eastern Michigan University is in the market for a new athletic director.

Lyke's task will be adding to what Barnes started, but was unable to finish in his 20 months on the job. "She has a passion for success in the classroom, on the playing field and in life after graduation", said Pitt chancellor Patrick Gallagher in a statement released by the program.

"I was looking for a great leader, someone who is passionate, hard-working and results-focused".

Lyke has been at Eastern Michigan for the last four years.

Lyke arrived at Ypsilanti in July of 2013 and has pushed for athletic support from students and alumni throughout her tenure at EMU. Lyke was a 1992 graduate of the University of MI, where she was a standout softball player.

A study by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators revealed women comprised 10.6 percent of Division I athletic directors in 2014. Sandy Barbour (Penn State) and Jennifer Cohen (Washington) are the other three.
