Is Breitbart Brat Steve Bannon About to Be Out on His Arse?

Reports of widening tension and infighting among Trump's senior staffers-including his Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon-are overblown and inaccurate, at least five senior administration officials told Fox News.

President Donald Trump's decision to attack Syria with missile strikes was apparently executed over Bannon's strenuous objections, according to a report by New York Magazine.

Spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said in a statement Friday that the narrative of a dysfunctional administration on the verge of a makeover "is a completely false story driven by people who want to distract from the success taking place in this administration".

The Mr Trump White House has been a hotbed of palace intrigue since he took office.

A reliable source has claimed that First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her spouse worked behind the scenes to get Bannon booted from the National Security Council this week.

Last week, the president issued a new executive memo that removed Bannon from the list of regular members of the NSC Principals Committee, a small working group made up primarily of the top Cabinet officials who regularly consider policy issues affecting national security.

He is seen as wielding enormous power with the president, who has come to lean heavily on the former Goldman Sachs executive for the direction of his economic and foreign policy agenda.

Bannon's side blames Kushner and his allies for trying to moderate Trump and move him away from some of his populist campaign promises.

But two people who have spoken with Trump said he recognized that the continuing state of drama was unsustainable.

While Bannon's influence has waned considerably inside the West Wing since the early days of the administration, he remains a powerful force outside the administration.

Kushner is Trump's loyal son-in-law and is therefore not likely to go anywhere because in Trump world, family and loyalty are everything.

President Donald Trump's top strategist Steve Bannon, and his son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner, met in an attempt to smooth tensions that have roiled the administration. Priebus appears as uncertain in his post as ever as Trump grows impatient with how his presidency is being viewed, officials said.

Priebus is reportedly "with the program" of a more cooperative and inclusive White House, but Bannon may get forced out if he can not adopt a more flexible approach. Some even said they were done with Trump.

Bannon preferred for the president to hash out the details of Trumpcare with the House Freedom Caucus, the libertarian extremists who were content to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement. In one tweet, he warned, "If you do [attack], many very bad things will happen, and from that fight the US gets nothing!"

But the president is considering a range of options, including a shift in role for Bannon, who has become increasingly isolated in the White House as other power centers have grown, as well as additional senior staff.
