The Oscars photo got more than 3.3 million retweets.

"If you think I'm going to lose that record to some chicken nugget kid, you are out of your cluckin' mind", DeGeneres said on her show.

She eventually presented somewhat of a compromise with a mutually beneficial deal that could get the teen his nuggets while keeping the record under her Twitter handle.

Since Wednesday, April 5, Carter's chicken nugget love has been retweeted more than 2.9 million times, making it the second most retweeted tweet in history. So, she enlisted new dad, Bradley Cooper, who appears in her famous 2014 Oscar selfie, for a hilarious PSA, begging fans to keep her as the record holder.

Carter took the challenge in stride, writing: 'GAME ON, ' adding that the fast food chain had pledged to donate $100,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation, an adoption charity named after the eatery's late founder, if Carter surpassed Ellen. Or will the chicken nugget boy pull ahead?

"We need your help", the somber comedian addresses the screen before Cooper chimes in, "Ellen and I are dangerously close to losing our title for the most re-tweeted tweet of all-time" and starts rubbing DeGeneres's shoulders.

Senator Wyden, clearly seeing the Twitter exchange between 16-year-old Carter Wilkerson and Wendy's that took place earlier this month, chose to give the direct approach a try.
