Costa and Chelsea have yet to comment on the latest rumours, but it now appears clear that the player and his suitors in China are keen to push forward with a deal that could see the forward earn €650,000-a-week.

NAIJ.com understands that Tianjin Quanjia have come back with an offer to make Costa the highest paid player in the world on £34 million a year after tax.

Tianjin are seventh in the Chinese Super League table after five games.

The 28-year-old has suffered a dip in 2017, scoring only three goals, but still have 17 Premier League goals this season.

Tianjin's billionaire owner Shu Yuhui spoke to Sina Sports, confirming: "I can only say that we are still working on the deal to sign Costa".

But with Super League clubs allowed to sign players again from June 19, Tianjin have again stepped up their interest in the Spain worldwide having been linked with a move for the 28-year-old before the start of the season when they brought in both Pato and Witsel.

Former teammates Oscar and Ramires have already made the move and are enjoying the fruits - and by fruits we mean money - of China.

"We have high standards [when it comes to buying foreign players] and those players prefer top clubs such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid". It's safe to say we have the same transfer targets as those illustrious clubs.

Chelsea are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League and face Tottenham, who are second in the table, this Saturday in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
