'Hell or High Water' Stars Chris Pine and Ben Foster Reunite With Director for Netflix's 'Outlaw King'

Now, they may be in for a reunion, as all three are in talks for a Netflix period epic called "Outlaw King".
"Outlaw King" is an epic, period drama that tells a different story of Robert the Bruce than Mel Gibson's Best Picture victor "Braveheart" did in 1995. Sorry, but I like Bravehearts that don't get captured.
Pine's "Hell or High Water" helmer David Mackenzie is directing the film from a script he is writing. Chris Pine is reportedly poised to take up arms as the former Scottish king, with Ben Foster negotiating a deal to play James Douglas, the "Scottish knight who became the king's chief adviser".
This sounds like a true home-grown production, too: filming is set to begin in Scotland this August, and Mackenzie and producers Gillian Berrie and Richard Brown are all Scottish natives.
The character Bruce was first profiled as the Scottish royal in actor-filmmaker Mel Gibson's "Braveheart" who after betraying William Wallace and allowing the British to capture the rebel leader would go on to fight the British for Scotland's freedom following Wallace's death. Deadline also reports that Mackenzie could also end up directing The Brotherhood starring Margot Robbie and Michael Fassbender, but that will happen once he's done with Outlaw King, which has been a longtime passion project for the director.
Pine and Foster played brothers in the 2016 Western. He defied the Brits and the Catholic Church and ruthlessly consolidated rule among the squabbling noble elite of Scotland, finally rallying the forces necessary to turn back Edward II's considerable armies to free Scotland.
