Lothar Matthaus feels Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez would be an excellent addition for Bayern Munich amid suggestions the Bundesliga champions are pondering a swoop for the Chile worldwide.

Bayern have been touted as a potential destination for Sanchez and Matthaus, who spent 12 years at Bayern over two separate spells, believes the forward would fit in seamlessly at the Allianz.

Wenger insisted once more that Sanchez would be going nowhere regardless of the fact that he will only have one year left on his contract, with the Frenchman even admitting that he was still hopeful that the club would convince the Chilean star to extend his stay at the Emirates.

And Matthaus, 56, who managed Bulgaria in 2010-11, says Sanchex would represent a great signing for the impending Bundesliga champions.

"His biggest pro is that he can play in a central role up front and on the wings".

Costa has been linked with a move to Tottenham after a hard campaign spent on the periphery of the Bayern squad, and Matthaus says the club would be open to a sale.

Premier League giants Liverpool are popular on the trail of Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa, in accordance with Tuttosport.

"Plus I do not like it that he has been hinting at a transfer in a number of interviews".

"I think the club would not stop him from leaving if they bring in another attacker".
