United had conceded five goals and failed to score in its two losses to Chelsea this season - one in the league (4-0) and one in the F.A. Cup (1-0) - but Mourinho got his own back against his former club this time. "I think we lost two games but these two games were totally different", Conte added.

"I think it was a special performance because it was a special opponent, the leaders, the way they play".

The midfielder went on to say that he thought "defensively" the team was "perfect" as for a team at the "top of the table" they did not manage to "create any chances" during the game which shows how well the team played.

But Chelsea does have a more favourable run-in than Tottenham. "It means the coach was not able to transfer the right concentration, desire, ambition to win this game".

"He was fantastic for us and we needed the outlet". We gave them problems when they had the ball because we controlled very well and we gave them problems when we recovered the ball because we were really sharp and fast and aggressive in our transitions.

"Tottenham is in good form and playing with enthusiasm, we must find the same". "We must have the same".

Conte will feel his side did not enjoy the best of luck here, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois ruled out with a training injury, while Alonso was withdrawn after the warm-up. "I want to finish higher than that", Young told British media. I was running with my arms next to my body and I don't know if the ball touched my arm or not, but it was not my intention.

"It will be a big week now and it needs characters in the team to settle the ship - and I think they are there".

Ander Herrera - detailed to do a brilliant man-marking job on Eden Hazard - saw his shot deflected in off Kurt Zouma four minutes after the break.

It left the enthused United players hailing their boss, who has come under fire during a first season in the North West. That succeeded in unbalancing the team. Defensively it was flawless, they didn't create any chances, and on the counter-attack we hurt them.

Young insisted he "was concentrating on Manchester United" when the rumours of a move to China surfaced and has not yet looked beyond the end of his current deal at Old Trafford.
