San Jose coach Peter DeBoer revealed Monday that Thornton gutted through the final four games of the series with torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee.

"You need things to go right at times, you need some key goals in moments", Pavelski said, "it didn't go for us this time".

Thornton had surgery Monday to fix the injury. Thornton appeared in Games 3-6, contributing a combined two assists and four shots on goal, during the Sharks' series loss. "But the heart and courage they showed - I've been in the business a long time - and it still amazes me". "Until his level drops where he has to take a reduced role, that's not even on my radar".

He was asked what it would mean to spend his entire career in San Jose.

At 37 years old, Joe Thornton is still in desperate pursuit of his first Stanley Cup title. "We were up and protected leads, we were behind and we came back, we went to overtime. We'll see if that's an option", Marleau told Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area. "Until I think I can't do that anymore, I'll cross that bridge when we get there". He finished the regular season with seven goals and 43 assists in 79 games played. His 50 points were his fewest in a non-lockout season since he was a teenager in Boston in 1998-99.

"The two that sting are the 1-0 game here in Game 3". Maroon, traded from Anaheim last season, has been playing on a line with McDavid and Draisaitl for much of the year, although he got bumped down the lineup for the speeder Drake Caggiula as the San Jose series progressed. "Almost all the guys had something", Wilson said. "Both those guys, you hear about the age stuff, those guys are both in great shape". It's a lot of fun coming to the rink every day.

"But he is a mature player and he has been around for a while".

They won despite a lineup of young players, and even some veterans, with little to no playoff experience at the National Hockey League level.

There have been no talks yet between the parties and it is extremely unlikely any deal would be finalized before the expansion draft in June.

Both players are eligible for free agency in 2018 but can sign extensions after July 1.

Wilson called it "a priority" to get Jones and Vlasic signed before training camp.

"Both of them are extremely important to get under contract", Wilson said.
