A 16-year-old student from Kenosha Bradford High School is fighting for his life after being stabbed at the school.

Kenosha police say the victim in Tuesday morning's stabbing incident has now been flown to an area trauma center for treatment of life threatening injuries.

According to Tanya Ruder, chief communications officer for the Kenosha Unified School District, Bradford students were sent home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Charges have been forwarded to the Kenosha County DA for first degree reckless endangering safety. A decision on whether charges will be filed is expected to come on Thursday or Friday.

A police school resource officer at the school intervened and immediately took the suspect into custody.

According to the report, the suspect is in custody and the weapon has been recovered.

Schaal said the detectives were still investigating the incident Tuesday afternoon, and no further information was being released.

Bradford resumed classes Wednesday with additional counselors on hand after students were dismissed early on Tuesday.

There is no further threat to students, staff or the community.
