The company has mean EPS estimate of -0.62 reported by 16 number of analyst for the quarter ending May 3, 2017. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported 57 cents per share in non-GAAP losses and $1.6 billion in revenue. With Tesla Inc planning to launch the vehicle in July, investors should look out for any updates about Model 3 itself, as well as the production plans for the vehicle.

Musk said Model 3 vehicle development, manufacturing equipment installation and supplier readiness remain on plan to start production in July. It is also planning a Model Y small SUV in late 2019 or 2020. In fact, the underlying technology will be much the same - and it's the Model S, which starts at $66,000, that will continue to be the company's top-of-the-line vehicle, with all the bells and whistles.

Elon Musk used his quarterly conference call with analysts Wednesday to talk about his sex problem.

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) last posted its earnings results on Wednesday, February 22nd. Tesla returned to markets yet again in March to raise another $1.15 billion, primarily to provide a cushion as the company moves into Model 3 production. Musk said the Model 3 was created to be much less complicated than the company's Model X SUV and the company has a better supply team in place, so he's not anticipating the sorts of delays that happened with previous Tesla models.

The company has communicated the issue to its retail stores and other employees, but Musk said he's anxious potential buyers remain confused.

Tesla is also expanding its network of stores and charging stations to meet anticipated demand. Wednesday the company said it would add almost 100 retail, delivery and service locations.

Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) now trades with a market capitalization of $52.09 Billion. Late past year, Tesla acquired SolarCity, a San Mateo, California-based rooftop solar developer.

Tesla plans to boost the number of retail, delivery and service locations by 30 percent, and add its first company-owned body fix shops this year. "And perhaps it's not the best benchmark to use looking forward, but it's perhaps three to four times more automated than a Model S or a Model X, and much, much simpler to build".

"The lack of unit detail on the S and X in the second half, coupled with the vagueness on Model 3 volume, is a little concerning", said Jeffrey Osborne, an analyst at Cowen & Co. The shares of Tesla have not varied much since and they still value more than $50 billion, which is significantly ahead of Ford. But operating costs rose by $224 million sequentially, reflecting the first full quarter of SolarCity operating expenses, following its merger with Tesla. While the average target price of top analysts is at $291.50 a downside of 7.2% from the stock April 28 price of $314.07, there are suggested target prices by these analysts between $160 to $375, which is an unusually large difference.
