MLB reportedly will not suspend Chris Sale for throwing behind Manny Machado

That was true for any elated Twins fans or dejected Red Sox fans Friday night at Target Field, none of whom had ever seen Mauer hit a walk-off home run in the big leagues before.

After controversially spiking Boston star Dustin Pedroia on a late-game slide in Baltimore almost two weeks ago on April 22, Machado was thrown at by Red Sox ace Chris Sale on Tuesday.

Tuesday's incident led to a call Wednesday afternoon with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, MLB chief baseball officer Joe Torre, the two managers, Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski and Orioles general manager Dan Duquette. He threw a pretty good breaking ball before that, and I didn't want to get off the heater in that situation, because he's got a good one. "I don't know if relief is the right word, but we're excited to get a win".

The former baseball pitcher spoke about the incident on his Thursday morning livestream show.

After three days in which the Baltimore Orioles' focus understandably may have been anywhere but on the actual baseball game they were playing in, manager Buck Showalter welcomed Thursday night's 8-3 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Tyler Wilson (2-1) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings.

Following an emotional, tension-strained divisional series with Baltimore, Boston hits the road to meet the Minnesota Twins. Major League Baseball suspended Barnes for four games, and Pedroia publicly denounced his teammates' actions, with television cameras capturing him telling Machado, "It's not me, it's them".

On the Red Sox website, there is an entire page dedicated to "Red Sox DestiNATIONS", wherein they sell tickets to fly their obnoxious fans all over the country to invade unsuspecting stadiums. Xander Bogaerts also had an RBI for Boston. It was his first major league start since October 2, 2015, with Colorado. "Wherever it is, I do the same thing every time". "All I can do is get ready for my next start, throw well in the next one and this one's forgotten about". And the Orioles are mashing their AL East competition. "Unfortunately, the bottom line is 4-5 is not what you're looking to do on the homestand against good teams". And it was Machado, the slugger at the center of it all, who got the last word, launching a three-run homer over everything in left field to fuel an 8-3 victory and give the Orioles a split of the four-game series.

Machado hit a 466-drive over the Green Monster and onto Lansdowne Street for his third homer of the series. Smith preceded the blast with a two-run double.

He has a 3.07 ERA and 1.26 WHIP this season. A double steal. Gutsy starting pitching. The same can't be said for Tigers' starter Jordan Zimmerman, who has been tagged for five earned runs in three of his last four starts.

Mitch Moreland and Josh Rutledge started the inning with infield singles.

Red Sox: Farrell said knuckleballer Steven Wright, who was put on the disabled list Monday with a sprained left knee, is "contemplating the options that are available to him and "surgery's not ruled out.".

Orioles: Ubaldo Jimenez was slated to pitch the series finale, but with Gausman's early ejection they had to go into the bullpen and Jimenez pitched three innings Wednesday.
