"(Radio.com) Eminem is suing New Zealand's National Party over a dispute concerning his Oscar-winning song 'Lose Yourself".

But the legal battle playing out in the High Court at Wellington has left Oliver unimpressed, who labelled it "unquestionably the lamest rap beef since Lil Wayne's five-year rap beef with William H Macy".

In the amusing video above - which almost feels like a spoof, except it isn't - lawyers and court officials maintain a professional, straight-faced air, trying hard to not let a smile appear, as Eminem's song is played.

'Some define comedy as tragedy plus time, but for me the purest definition is a middle aged Kiwi in a robe playing Eminem's lose yourself to a completely silent and motionless court room, ' he said.

'Some of the stuff I've seen he does isn't very amusing'.

"For the sake of his audience, I hope it's amusing", he told reporters.

Labour leader Andrew Little disagrees and said he'd certainly found himself laughing at the comedian in the past. This is the news story of the year, seriously.

Eight Mile Style alleges the song EminemEsque, used in National's 2014 election campaign ad, rips off the award winning song Lose Yourself with the two parties now involved in a trial at the High Court in Wellington.

"And if you are going to rip off someone else's work, maybe don't include the name of the person you're ripping off".
