The 31-year-old England striker has been consistently linked with calling time on illustrious Old Trafford career at the end of the season. When asked if he wanted to do it at United, he responded: "Of course".

"It was a game that was clearly a nuisance for him, sandwiched between the two legs of United's Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo that he has made it obvious is his priority".

Sixth-placed Arsenal's 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday left them six points behind Manchester city, albeit with a game in hand. "Nevertheless, we feel we've got a good chance of going through to the final if we play to our best".

"I think the formation is good for the team", he stated.

"When we lost these players in a period of seven matches in seven weeks it was the impossible job". I would like to play more but that's the way it's panned out and I've tried to help the team off the pitch, on the pitch, and tried to help us win.

"Would I like to stay? I am thinking about the club and the players", Mourinho said. But the opponent was hard, the match was hard, the stadium was hard, so I can not be happier with the players and their work.

"This season I haven't played as much as I would have liked to". I would like to play more but that's the way it's panned out.

"I watched the [Liverpool] game and I've seen the penalty given by the referee [for a handball by Jack Stephens]".

"Thursday is the match of the season". It's something we all want and I think this club belongs there.

After Manchester United's top-four hopes were over with a 0-2 defeat against Arsenal in English Premier League, United's head coach Jose Mourinho said his side have to chase the Champions League by winning the Europa League now.

"A European final for the club would be very important to fight for the only trophy that the club has never won before", he said. The tie's not over. "But the best help we can get is by winning our own games".

Finally I leave this stadium with Arsenal fans happy, they deserve that.

"We have a really important chance to play Champions League through the Europa League but in the Premier League anything can happen".

The rules dictate that if the winners of the Champions League don't also qualify for next season's competition via their home league placing, then the Europa League winners have to go through the playoffs.
