OH gas prices rise but remain below national average

AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have risen by about 6 cents per gallon in the past week.

Including the change in gas prices in OH during the past week, prices yesterday were eight-tenths of a cent per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 6.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.

Gasoline prices usually rise in the days leading to Memorial Day weekend and the start of the summer travel season, but this year that pattern has shifted into reverse.

Gas prices are falling in northern New England.

Chattanooga prices were 1.3 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 12.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. Three years ago, at the height of the shale oil boom, they averaged $3.42 per gallon.

"The national average gas price has again declined in the last week, but the road ahead may be a bit bumpier", Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for, said in the release.

Energy prices pushed higher last week following updated EIA data showing increased demand and the biggest one week drawdown in crude stockpiles since December. In Georgia, the average fell to $2.33.

Alabama, AL, May 15- Average retail gasoline prices in Alabama have fallen 4.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.07/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 3,348 gas outlets in Alabama.

On average, West Palm Beach had the most expensive gas in Florida at $2.43 followed by Miami and Fort Lauderdale at $2.37. Liberty City's got the low end on gas stations with $2.19 at the Citgo at 3080 NW 54th Street and the Valero at 7045 NW 27th Ave.

The state average was $2.32, down from $2.36 a week earlier, while the national average was $2.34.
