Phoebe Waller-Bridge might have picked up a Bafta on Sunday night but it was her mum who viewers felt was the real Bafta victor.

"I thought about making up a ridiculous plot for the film and just telling everyone that was the plot... but I've been heavily advised not to do that as well".

Phoebe Waller-Bridge says she was warned against inventing a fake plot for the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film to fool people. "Poker face it is I'm afraid".

Phoebe beat off competition from Diane Morgan, Lesley Manville and Olivia Colman to scoop her BAFTA gong.

Her revelation came just hours after an insider told the Daily Mirror that bosses at the BBC see Phoebe as "perfect fit as a Time Lord and the first female Doctor Who".

The 31-year-old has been bookies favourite to become the first female Doctor for weeks, with sources suggesting that the BBC were keen to hire her.

Sharing her mother's advice, she told the crowd: "Darling you can be whatever you want to be, as long as you are outrageous". "They thought she did an fantastic job with Fleabag and is certainly one of the rising stars in TV and film", a source told the Mirror.

Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has responded to rumours linking her with the lead role in Doctor Who.

The TV star had been hotly tipped to replace Peter Capaldi in the sci-fi series after he announced in January that he is to step down at the end of the current series.

The first photo of the cast was revealed back in February and Phoebe - who has a mystery role - will star alongside Alden Ehrenreich, who is leading the gang as Han himself and Donald Glover, who plays a young Lando Calrissian.
