Angry Gregg Popovich Rips Into Zaza Pachulia For Injuring Kawhi Leonard

The Spurs scored 30 points in the first quarter and even more impressive, they held the Warriors to only 16 points in the quarter. Now the Spurs are down 0-2 and there is no reason for a casual fan to continue watching this series.

Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green (23) drives to the basket as San Antonio Spurs' LaMarcus Aldridge watches during the first half of Game 2 of the NBA basketball Western Conference finals, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in Oaklan. Take that back - the Spurs are missing Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker. Klay Thompson still didn't have a breakout game - scoring only 11 after mustering only six points in Game 1 - but he did plant a pair of 3s. He sprained it on May 9 when the Spurs beat the Houston Rockets in Game 5 of their second-round series, and he re-injured it twice Sunday afternoon in Game 1, having not played for five days.

In the Eastern Conference finals, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers destroyed Isiah Thomas and the Boston Celtics in the opening game. Sam Amick of USA Today quoted Popovich in his story on last night's game.

"The only way I can process this is I think it's not about O's and X's or rebounds or turnovers or anything like that". "I'd probably list him as questionable. And it showed with the lack of edge, intensity, grunt".

"This is playoff time, and if you're not excited and don't get that adrenaline rush and get locked into the moment, you're going to miss out", Curry said of his postseason play.

The Warriors just want to keep the momentum that has them at 10-0 this postseason.

Popovich wasn't about to guess whether Leonard would return in time for Saturday's game.

"They came out with a sense of urgency tonight from the beginning and they did that for 48 minutes".

This is essentially the team, after all, that has loved the chase, that was motivated by the chance to catch the 1995-96 Bulls at 72 wins and either tie or break the mark for the best regular season ever.

Leonard, particularly, had never been playing better at the time of his injury. In addition to regularly guarding opponents' top scorers, he led the league in assists per turnover (4.5) and was seventh among players who played at least 70 games in steals per turnover (1.31).

"I thought I would come out and try to move the ball". Our next game, I won't do that. "Give all of our guys credit". But I took myself out of it.

The Warriors were down by as much as 25 points, with the San Antonio bigs dominating the Warriors. No one has figured out the blue print to stop the juggernaut that is the Golden State Warriors in this year's playoffs, but if there was one man to do it, it would be future Hall of Fame Greg Popovich.
