Manager Tony Pulis said: "City deserved to win the game - they were better than us".

De Bruyne curled home a handsome finish from the edge of the area just two minutes later to double the lead following slick buildup play involving most of City's attackers. "They had one chance and scored".

Sergio Aguero starts but John Stones is on the bench for Manchester City in this evening's important Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad Stadium.

He said: "Maybe the players don't believe me, but what I like the most is to try to help them". With so few games left, there's no room for error, so tune in at 3:00 PM ET to see who gets the win! I will enjoy it. "I am not getting any younger but I can play for two more years and have got offers from different countries", said Zabaleta, who said he plans to play for two more years before retiring to his wife's home city of Barcelona.

And the 46-year old discussed the disappointment of not being able to provide the goods in his first season in English football in his recent pre-match press conference.

"If what happens next season is not going well, I'll have one more year of contract, and if it's not going well they are going to change manager".

The closest Manchester City has come to winning this season is reaching the semifinals of the FA Cup, where it lost to Manchester United.

The Argentine defender was introduced for the last half-hour of the contest, which saw Pep Guardiola's side seal their spot in the top four thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne and Yaya Toure.

Pep Guardiola's men now need only a point at Watford to secure a top-four place and even a defeat would only see them drop to fifth if Arsenal both beat Everton and engineer a six-goal swing in doing so.

"What I have done for the club is just what every single player should for the team he is playing for.

You never realise how tough those moments are when you have to say goodbye to everyone", he added. "I am sure the future is so bright and hopefully one day the club can achieve it".
