Beginning in November, Southwest Airlines plans to add a weekly nonstop flight to Cancun, Mexico out of St. Louis Lambert International Airport, according to a news release from the airline. The Airline has not released schedules beyond January 2018. This makes St. Louis one of 15 airports in the United States with worldwide service on Southwest, according to a press release.

"There's been great growth and demand on Southwest in recent years and we're excited for this continued momentum with the addition of new worldwide service", said Lambert director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge in a news release. The Airport has been working with Southwest to renovate and re-open a 4-gate section (E34-E40) in Terminal 2, which will open in mid-June. She received medical attention and was able to continue on the flight.

Starting November 5, travelers will also gain a new daily nonstop service to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport with fares as low as $49 each way. "We are thrilled with the new air service announced today and are grateful for the more than 100 daily departures Southwest will provide this summer to serve Nashville and the surrounding region".
