Alexis Sanchez Like A Devil On The Pitch Says Arsene Wenger

Wenger: Sanchez Has Become A Complete Player At Arsenal Mourinho: Why I Lost Temper With Wenger On Touchline

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists his team's chances of gatecrashing the Champions League places remain "good" after Alexis Sanchez kept their seemingly slim hopes alive by downing Sunderland.

Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez, right, fails to score during the English Premier League soccer match between Arsenal and Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium in London, Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

If Manchester City or Liverpool do slip up and drop points in their final games they're both five and four goals ahead on goal difference, so we really need to hammer a few home tonight, if even the smallest of miracles were to come true.

Wenger switched to a three-man defence for the first time in 20 years against Middlesbrough last month following a disastrous run of results which, barring a Liverpool collapse on Sunday, will cost Arsenal Champions League qualification.

Pickford foiled Arsenal after that and while it was job done as they gained three points, they stay fifth and are still outsiders to finish in the top four.

"I want to absolutely make sure we are in there, but let's get to 75 points and see what happens".

Elsewhere on the injury front for Arsenal, centre-back Laurent Koscielny is doubtful due to a recurrence of the calf problem that ruled him out of last week's 2-0 win at Southampton, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be unable to assist his team-mates in their bid for a top four spot.

"I feel he had something still (to give)", Wenger said. We had a hard period and we recovered from it. ...

Arsenal shareholder Morgan has always been calling for Wenger to leave Arsenal and has not been afraid to make his views heard on social media in recent seasons.

"They had that awful run of form around the Christmas period and the players and manager couldn't turn that around quick enough to give themselves a good chance to get into the top four".

After a goalless first half, Sanchez hit the net twice within nine minutes, in the second half, scoring the first goal in the 72nd minute, following a cross by Granit Xhaka and a pass by Mesut Ozil. Sunderland are already down but their players applied themselves against Arsenal and almost got a point. I believe he has become a complete player and developed very well at Arsenal Football Club. I think we have a chance.

"We made 71 points (last season) and were second".

"I never saw one player in my life go on the pitch and not try to win the game and when the target is done, it's done".
