Chelsea are reported to be weighing up a move for Paris St-Germain star Marco Verratti, but face a battle to lure him away.
CHELSEA are desperately trying to persuade Marco Verratti to join boss Antonio Conte's quest for more silverware.
Conte believes the 24-year-old can bring some quality and playmaking to his side as they look to make a successful return to the Champions League next term, and is already said to have offered £55m for his services.
Verratti has made 28 appearances in the French top flight this season, scoring three goals and assisting five as PSG conceded their title to Monaco.
The speculation suggests that the Premier League champions would be willing to spend £55m on the former Pescara midfielder.
A new central midfielder appears to be on the agenda as The Sun claims that Conte has identified Verratti as the man to provide his team with more creativity in the middle of the park.
The talented playmaker would compliment N'Golo Kante perfectly if he was to move to west London and would provide Conte with real depth in the middle of the park alongside Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.
