But if the lead-up to the 2016 NBA Draft had played out differently, Thomas might have scored those points for a team other than the Celtics.

The Celtics are excited about their own opportunity. The franchise that's about to play in the Eastern Conference Finals beginning Wednesday night shouldn't think twice and trade that selection.

Thomas is already saying all the right things about playing with Fultz, and the two should be able to co-exist thanks to the presumptive No. 1 pick's stature and court vision. However, as reported by the Chicago Tribune, the Celtics will not go as far as sending their first round pick, especially now that it's the first pick overall.

"Before the draft past year, Danny [Ainge] was trying to get two picks, not just Jaylen Brown", MacMullan said.

This draft appears to be loaded with talent, so keeping the pick is not a bad option.

The key here is that the Celtics are built to win now. Some of the top prospects include guard Markelle Fultz from Washington, guard Lonzo Ball from UCLA and forward Josh Jackson from Kansas.

So will the Boston Celtics pick the high-scoring point guard in the NBA Draft? "They're not on 'Space Jam, '" Thomas said. However, there's one question many Celtics fans are asking. Most teams won't do a pick for a player straight up, so the Celtics may have to throw in another player along with the pick depending on what type of player they are looking for.

But as we have seen before, Danny Ainge won't give any clues as to what the Celtics plan to do this offseason, and we won't really know anything unless it is close to being done.

The reigning National Basketball Association champion Cavaliers toyed with the Celtics in last night's 117-104 final at TD Garden.
