During Trump's visit this weekend, dozens of senior executives and economic officials from both countries will discuss proposed investment projects in non-oil industries.

The trip takes in the capitals of the three major monotheistic religions - Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to oversee the Russian Federation probe - a concession by the Trump administration to Democrats, who had intensified their calls for a special counsel - after the president fired FBI Director James Comey.

The Saudis want more U.S. help confronting Iran and armed groups, as well as private investment in Saudi companies.

The strategic advantage of the President's trip to the Arab countries is represented by the alliance between the United States, Saudi Arabia and Israel, despite the conflict of interest that might arise if the allegations about the confidential information supposedly leaked by the President to Russian Federation prove to be true - considering that for Israel, that would be counterproductive.

"It's nearly always true that when a president goes on a big foreign trip, especially one that has some important summits. that dominates the news and knocks most other stuff out", said Republican strategist Charlie Black. A measure he has issued since taking office to impose a temporary travel ban on people from six Muslim-majority countries has been blocked by courts. The president, who is known as a homebody, has reportedly been dreading the journey.

No sitting United States president has ever visited the Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism, since American policy maintains that the final status of Jerusalem has yet to be determined.

Imam also asked those presidents who are attending the Summit to work together, and built constructive dialogues and cooperation.

The status of Jerusalem is one of the most sensitive and complex issues within the Middle East conflict and no country in the world now has its embassy there.

The avalanche of revelations in the run-up to his departure have eroded Trump's standing at home - where the parallels with Richard Nixon's ill-fated presidency are now being openly drawn. Peace talks with Israel will top the agenda and Mr Trump is expected to express his support for Palestinian "self-determination".

Trump would then head to Brussels where he will meet with the presidents of the European Union and that of the European Council.

Bremmer said he'd find it to be a successful trip if "Trump can just get through the meetings". During his campaign, he called North Atlantic Treaty Organisation "obsolete" although in April he reversed his stance. As David Urban, the president's campaign leader, told CNN: "The president is going to the Middle East to let our friends know that we are back and to let our enemies know that we have returned".

"This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

Air Force One departed Friday from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, outside Washington, with the president, first lady Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as well as a group of senior advisers and journalists covering the trip.
