The Swiss player moved one win from an emphatic eighth title after recording a 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 win. "Someone like Ivan can also help do that", Federer said when Ljubičić joined his team. On the other hand, Marin Cilic was impressive in the first four rounds of the tournament.

Cilic will go up against the Roger Federer in the men's final Sunday.

After his semi-final win over Tomas Berdych the Swiss star explained the three factors that will determine when he calls it a day.

Marin Cilic, 2014 US Open champion, booked his spot as he dispatched Rafael Nadal's conqueror Gilles Muller 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 to next take on Querrey. "Sam played at a high level especially in the first set".

Roger Federer has reached the Wimbledon final for a record 11th time on his way to winning a possible 19th Major. He beat Berdych 7-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Williams is 37 and would be the oldest woman to win the Wimbledon title since Charlotte Cooper Sterry in 1908.

The 28-year-old acknowledged he faced a formidable challenge in the final to defeat 18-time Grand Slam champion Federer, who has yet to drop a set at this year's tournament. I managed to turn it around.

"I feel very privileged to be in another final", said Federer, according to BBC Sport.

He is the first Croatian to reach the final at Wimbledon since Goran Ivanisevic in 2001 and no man has endured a longer wait, this his 11th appearance at the All England Club.

He broke the Berdych serve for the second time to lead 4-3 having snuffed out two chances for his opponent with unreturnable serving. He won the Halle Open, on grass, in fine form and has been fantastic throughout Wimbledon. Cilic will crack the ranking top-five for the first time thanks to his Wimbledon performance.

Inexplicably, though, Berdych - who had struck the ball well without making too many inroads - levelled the set, as Federer toiled with the new balls and a costly double fault tied it at 4-4. Since taking a six-month break in the second half of 2016 to rest a knee problem he has come back to play some of the best tennis of his career.

Rather than a supreme showdown between Andy Murray and Rafa Nadal, the Centre Court crowd witnessed a semi-final slug fest between Querrey and Cilic but the margins were as fine as you might have expected them to be.

But a second Slam final wasn't the only thing on the Czech's mind ahead of the match. He has everything working for him at the moment.
