The 27-year-old Spain international has agreed a deal with Atletico until June 2022.

Despite the Las Palmas sporting director last week saying the deal would take place, Vitolo agreed to sign a contract extension with Sevilla, which their president Jose Castro announced on Monday. The Madrid side are not allowed to register new players until January 2018 owing to a FIFA transfer ban for signing minors. "It's a dream to play in LaLiga with the club of my life".

Atletico Madrid announced on Wednesday the signing of Sevilla winger Vitolo, who will play at Las Palmas until January because of the capital club's ban on registering players, resolving a complex transfer saga.

So he will sign for Las Palmas as a free agent on a six-month contract and then sign/register with Atletico in January.

"Vitolo, who is 27, is a football player of proven experience and quality, who has defended the shirt of the senior national team 11 times and has become one the most unbalancing players of the League in the last seasons", the 10-time La Liga champions added.

Eager to get their man, Atleti have essentially found a loophole in the system by making a private payment to Vitolo, who then used it to buy himself out of his contract at Sevilla.

After helping them win three Europa League titles in a row between 2014 and 2016, Vitolo has now decided to move on.
