Jackson won the Heisman Trophy and 2016 ACC Player of the Year with his record-setting season last fall.

Miami returns 15 starters from last season. Seven voters picked Louisville to win the conference, Virginia Tech and Miami each landed three votes and Duke got one.

Miami lost at Virginia Tech 37-16 last season.

North Carolina and Duke each got four first-place votes in the Coastal Division, but the Tar Heels are picked to finish fifth in the division and the Blue Devils are voted to finish in sixth place. Miami, in its second year under head coach Mark Richt, got 103 first-place votes and Virginia Tech, in its second season under head coach Justin Fuente, received 40 first-place votes.

Virginia Tech and Miami play in Miami Gardens, Florida, on November 4, a game that could well decide who represents the league in the ACC title game in Charlotte this December.

The Seminoles were picked as overall ACC champions on 118 ballots while reigning national champion Clemson received 35 votes. "We're moving right along at a very good pace, I think". Fuente and the Hokies defied the odds past year, going 6-2 in league play to win the division after being tabbed fourth in the preseason. Virginia Tech was the eventual champion. But to me, it's about the process and it's about are we going about the process that's been proven over time that leads to our improvement?

This doesn't even account for the team's losses on defense. Florida State and Miami have never met in the ACC Championship Game. Georgia Tech did not receive a vote to win it all.

To no surprise, reigning Heisman Trophy victor Lamar Jackson is the heavy favorite to win the conference's player of the year award, leading the pack with 113 votes. Syracuse and Boston College are the bottom finishers for Atlantic.
