James has emerged as one of the NBA's most high-profile voices on social issues.

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James weighed in on Saturday about the ongoing violence taking place in Charlottesville, Va., taking a shot at President Donald Trump and expressing his sadness in the process. (You can read my take on it here.) It's been a breaking story and will remain one until the situation gets handled.

James actively campaigned for Trump's opponent in last year's presidential election, Hillary Clinton, and was an avid supporter of Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama.

Biden's tweet was retweeted over 79,000 times. A few hours later, two Virginia state police officers died when their helicopter crashed in an accident linked to the rally.

Trump has played with friends, famous people (including golfers Rory McIlroy and Ernie Els) and for political and diplomatic purposes. That's because the Trump Administration has gone out of its way to bar the White House press pool from shadowing President Trump when he goes to his golf clubs.

The President condemned the ugliness - "On many sides", a phrase for the ages.

Earlier Saturday, Trump denounced the violence on Twitter.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides", Trump said at a press conference.
