Following on from his derby hat-trick against Espanyol on Saturday, Messi opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time after a one-two with Luis Suarez before drilling in Barca's third goal in the 69th minute after Ivan Rakitic had doubled their lead.

The reigning Italian champions will be looking to draw first blood when they take on Barcelona tonight at the Camp Nou, and the memories of their famous win only last season will be fresh in their minds.

"I have the feeling that when Leo gets the ball, something is going to happen, anything".

"The team is gradually getting better, knowing what we want and we have added this one to our three league victories".

Barca beat Juve 3-1 in Berlin in the 2015 final, but the Old Lady had her revenge in last season's quarter-finals, winning 3-0 on aggregate.

Giorgio Chiellini, Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira, Claudio Marchisio and Benedikt Höwedes are set to miss Juventus clash against Barcelona on Tuesday night (12 September) after being left out of Massimiliano Allegri's 19-man squad due to various fitness issues.

Barcelona have started the season well and have yet to concede a goal, long may it continue.

"He's an important player in his team, in Europe and in the world, we know that", said the coach. He had three shots on goal, scored twice and also hit the post once.

But this Juventus team is hobbled.

It was supposed to be the other way around considering how both teams entered the season: Barcelona was in turmoil, Madrid was thriving.

"So in that sense we allowed him to score".

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde warned against snap judgements on his side and Juventus' Champions League aspirations despite losing key players in the transfer market. Roberto Lewandowski remains the fourth favourite with best odds of 10/1.

And, while Barca are still to make an official announcement, Bartomeu has revealed the deal for Messi has already been signed, while Iniesta's Nou Camp future has also been secured.
