The extra 10 grams on the iPhone 8 Plus compared to the iPhone 6s Plus shouldn't be a huge deal for most. In a ceremony laced with all that Apple's annual events always are, the company launched three new iPhones, viz., the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone 'X'.

We checked the bottom of the phone: no headphone jack, and there's still a Lightning port. Given that the new Macs use Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C, it would have been nice to see Thunderbolt 3 instead, but we weren't expecting that.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available for pre-order from September 15 starting $699 and will be available for sale on September 22. iPhone X will be available for pre-order from October 27 starting $999.

The cat is out of the bag, and the surprise element of Apple's yesterday event was the price of iPhone X.

Apple has also made the device water and dust resistant, included the highest-pixel density ever seen on an iPhone and also introduced facial-recognition technology. There is also wireless charging, an improved camera and AR applications. Despite this monumental achievement, the focus remained squarely on the tenth anniversary iPhone - now known as iPhone X. Perhaps, the most hyped smartphone ever, the fever pitch surrounding the "iPhone X" is intensifying every day. The system will be able to learn over time to adapt as a person's appearance changes with new hairstyles, facial hair, glasses, etc. All Face ID data will be stored in the Secure Enclave on the user's device and not transmitted to the cloud.

Increasing prices is the only way to post significant growth in a mature, relatively slow-growing market where your market share is stagnating.

"iPhone X is a premium-priced smartphone which for the first time goes over the 1,000 dollars threshold for the top 256GB model".

The phones felt the same in our hands as the 7 and 7 Plus. It is powered by 1.9GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 8895 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM. But Apple also needs the higher margin to meet the enormous expectations of an increasingly competitive market.

At Rs 57,900, the Samsung S8 costs Rs 33,000 less tha its much costlier iPhone X while carrying most of the technology that Apple's latest offering does.

It's already impressive that Apple has avoided steep revenue drop-offs everywhere except China, where the trend has been negative for quite some time. The result appeared to be native resolution and 60fps.
