John Van Dyke, standing in his pyjamas near the 101 Freeway in Santa Rosa, watched a hillside in flames from the Tubbs fire. It's starting to really affect my breathing and lungs so I'm wearing the mask. Rietman looked outside and quickly realized he was hearing the sound of utility pole transformers bursting throughout his neighborhood.

The wildfires continued to grow in size.

Constellation Brands, the large wine, spirits and beer producer headquartered in the Rochester area, is working to assess any damage to its California facilities.

Michael Kaiser, vice president of Wine America, a national wine trade organization, says it's too early to say how badly the wildfires will impact the wine crop.

"We have found bodies almost completely intact, and we have found bodies that were nothing more than ash and bones", said the sheriff, whose office released Thursday the names of 10 of the dead, all age 57 or older. "This deliberative process should continue and the issues this bill seeks to address should be raised in that forum".

With fires advancing from several sides in Sonoma Valley, law enforcement officers on loan from other areas of Northern California barred residents of evacuated communities from returning to see how the homes and businesses had fared. As if these terrible occurrences are not enough, the threat of looters runs rampant through these areas while folks fear the absolute worst.

California [U.S.A.], Oct 11 (ANI):Wildfires raging across broad swaths of Northern California have killed at least 17 people, hospitalised hundreds, and destroyed an estimated 2,000 buildings, as hundreds of firefighters battled to control the flames. Since the drought and spike in tree deaths, the energy company said it's now inspecting trees twice a year. Due to the constant news updates from friends, family, and media outlets, I feared for the absolute worst. "This is one of the biggest, most serious, and it's not over", Gov. Jerry Brown said at a news conference Wednesday, alongside the state's top emergency officials.

The dense smoke t pollutes the air within a radius of 200 kilometers, which has forced the closure of some of the schools in the region. This is the Santa Rosa that I have returned to.

Hundreds of evacuees fled to beaches far to the north of the fires, some sleeping on the sand on the first night of the blazes.

"We have people that have been on that fire for three days who don't want to leave", said Cal Fire's deputy incident commander in Napa, Barry Biermann. Various neighborhoods have been decimated by these fires, which are being fueled by the massive winds, allowing them to expand exponentially.

About 900 people are missing after at least 22 fires rage in the famous wine region. Firefighters were sent to eight fallen tree calls, with many reports of blocked roadways. The bill would have required the state to identify the places most at risk for wildfires and would have required the CPUC to beef up plans to prevent fires sparked by power lines - including moving lines underground if necessary.

A state of emergency was also declared in Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Nevada and Orange counties.

Containment of the fire has increased, and weather conditions are expected to improve overnight, officials said Thursday.

"We had series of statewide fires in 2003, 2007, 2008 that didn't have anything close to this death count", said Daniel Berlant, a deputy director of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
