Liverpool has been linked with a move for Monaco's Thomas Lemar and Leicester's Riyad Mahrez as a replacement for Coutinho, but maybe there is no real necessity, especially with dynamic Guinea midfielder Naby Keita joining from Leipzig in the summer.

Coutinho scored 41 Premier League goals during his time at Anfield but the midfielder stressed he could not turn down the chance to move to Barcelona.

"That was unlucky, it was an open game".

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that his club had no choice but to let star man Philippe Coutinho move on to Barcelona.

"But we tried everything".

"It was his dream and it's the truth when I say he left Liverpool only for one club - and it was Barcelona".

"There was a moment when we had to accept that". While even the most ardent and optimistic of Liverpool fans will be skeptical about the news, the sudden slashing of odds in the betting market has certainly got a lot of transfer experts interested. "We have to make the best of it. We still have fantastic players here".

"Definitely Man City, I think they could do with him or someone like him".

Klopp dismissed suggestions that he was attempting to protect the club by allowing a wantaway player to leave.

Solace, lies with summer signing of Mohamad Salah, who has been putting in a number of eye-catching performances so far.

Coutinho went onto add that he expects the Liverpool supporters to understand his decisions and dreams. "We made that decision".

"There was no other option". But for me? It's business as usual.

He explained: "If anybody would say afterwards it's because he didn't fight enough, they will never know 100 per-cent all the information". That would be not too cool. That's how it is.

However, Guardiola believes despite losing a "top player" in Coutinho, Liverpool are more than capable of remaining a threat and will adequately replace the 25-year-old.

It appears it's going to take some time for Coutinho to make his way up for his unveiling, but fear not, we'll keep you updated on all the latest developments including what the player himself has to say.

"We don't have to replace him", said Klopp. We will have 11 players and we have played fantastic football without Phil.

"I think Liverpool play like Liverpool was in the past, in all their history".

The Catalan giants announced the impending signing of Coutinho on Saturday and the Brazilian underwent his medical and officially signed his contract two days later. That's not how it will be.

Speaking on Coutinho's transfer, Chamberlain said, "I haven't really even thought about Phil leaving", Oxlade-Chamberlain said, according to Sky Sports. "It's not one hero and the rest try to help them a little bit", he declared.

He has chipped in with five goals and three assists in 17 league outings for his club this term. Because in a traditional 4-3-3 formation, the trio of Dembele, Suarez, and Messi fills in, the attacking positions. Since I've been in nobody told me 'no way'. It looks good - he wears football boots, that is always a good sign. It is simple like that. He needs time for proper training of course.

"He was not ready to do that anymore".
