It is nearly six years since Julian Assange disguised himself as a motorcycle courier and entered the Ecuadorian embassy in London to seek political asylum.

His legal team claim that the warrant is no longer useful since it has lost its purpose and function when the Swedish charges were dropped.

It was Assange's second failed attempt to have the arrest warrant dropped in a week. He has gone on record as saying that the judge "did not know what she was talking about".

Against this background, we have found us to be obliged to lift the detention order. and to withdraw the European arrest warrant.

Arbuthnot said Assange is free to leave the prison any time he likes. I suspect if one were to ask one of the men incarcerated in Wandsworth Prison whether conditions in the Ecuadorian embassy were akin to a remand in custody, the prisoner would dispute the Working Group's assertion.

'I do not accept that Sweden would have rendered Mr Assange to the United States.

Mr Assange had first challenged the warrant on the grounds that police in Sweden no longer want him extradited for questioning over rape allegations.

"Obviously these emails are of interest to the court", Arbuthnot said.

The lawyers representing the Wikileaks founder's argued that continuing to pursue him for violating bail conditions was not proportionate or in the public interest.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions told reporters last April that arresting Assange was "a priority".

It remains unclear if a US extradition warrant against Mr Assange exists.

He added: "Secondly, that the UN has ruled that his situation at present is arbitrary, unreasonable and disproportionate". The Crown Prosecution Service dissuaded the Swedish prosecutors from dropping the charges.

As there are legal proceedings still under way it would be inappropriate to comment.

British police ended their permanent guard in October 2015, having spent an estimated 12.6 million pounds, but said they would maintain "covert tactics" to arrest him if he left the embassy.

"US [Department of Justice] confirmed to Reuters again yesterday that its case is ongoing".

The ruling was the latest hit to Assange's effort to leave the embassy he has inhabited for years.

"His case is unprecedented".

In light of this, he is calling on Trump to take action.

"When I say the CPS, I mean the particular CPS lawyer who conducted this case". "Julian Assange is being harassed because of WikiLeaks".

'If that happened there would have been a diplomatic crisis between the United Kingdom, Sweden and the United States which would have affected international relationships and extradition proceedings between the states'.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard how Assange was suffering from a bad tooth, a frozen shoulder and depression.

Seemingly unmoved, Arbuthnot implied last week that Assange was a man who wields power and influence online. Mr Sommers contends he has been punished enough.
