"The yellow ribbon is always going to be there, whether you see it or not, even if I wear it in the press conference, post-match, the situation doesn't change, there are still people in prison in an unfair way".

Bayern Munich have one foot in the draw after thrashing 10-man Besiktas 5-0 in Bavaria, with the final game to be played between Barcelona and Chelsea at Camp Nou.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been fined £20,000 for wearing a yellow ribbon on the touchline during the FA Cup defeat at Wigan. "My agent is not in town - was not, is not, will not be in town in the next weeks".

"He knows, his family knows, his manager knows - we want to keep him with us for a long time", Guardiola said. "We need to be relaxed, stay calm and think about Stoke City".

But regardless of that, Guardiola still does not enjoy sitting out the weekend action.

MF Phil Foden, 7 - Some promising moments from the youngster - including a sublime touch to send Leroy Sane away in the build-up to the opening goal - but was generally well marshalled by a burly Basel defence.

He said: "The distance is not normal in the beginning of March".

"It is not about independence or no independence".

City's only other experience of Monday night football this season saw them held 1-1 by Everton in August, a game in which they had another player dismissed, Kyle Walker.

"We did it last season to be together and prepare". We created a lot of chances and we were good. "In the second half it was really, really poor". When it's the weekend everybody is involved and when the weekend is over we have to play.

"But if keep this spirit and this fighting attribute we've got, then we'll be fine".

Basel are aware of the mounting interest in the Norway international and are bracing themselves for offers when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

"But what happens in the [Champions League] quarter-finals, depends on our level in the Premier League". It's like I said before, it's almost done, it's almost done.

"I'm really happy and proud". City's first trophy is on the sideboard, while a second is within touching distance. "The best example is two days ago, we lost against Basel", said Guardiola, whose side reached the Champions League quarter-finals with a 5-2 aggregate victory over the Swiss club.
