Meachem and Rhodes share custody of their two children.

The New Orleans Advocate reported that a judge ruled Meachem owed $588,000 and had paid only about $200,000. Meachem made more than $20 million in his eight-year career.

According to Wilborn P. Nobles III of, Meachem owes nearly $400,000 to Rhodes. Meachem has not played a down in the NFL since 2014, although he has tried to get back into the league and has worked out for some teams.

According to the report, the judge also fined Meachem $500 for showing up to a deposition a year ago without bringing an assistant who was supposed to testify about financial information.

Rhodes' attorneys claimed Meachem secretly took $1.8 million from accounts shared with his ex-wife.

Judge Adrian Adams of Jefferson Parish's 24th Judicial District Court agreed with that assessment and gave Meachem until January 20 to pay the amount he owed. A first-round pick in 2007, Meachem helped the Saints win the Super Bowl in 2009.
