After a very quiet start to the 2017 free agency period, Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie made his first move Friday bringing former Minnesota Vikings kick receiver and wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson for a visit. But interest exists, with the fifth-year return man wrapping up a visit the Washington Redskins and soon set to visit the Oakland Raiders, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports. Patterson also had a strong season returning kickoffs a year ago, with a 31.7-yard average, and he has five career kickoff return touchdowns.

Against the Raiders in 2015, he returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. While he has never lived up to his billing as a wide receiver, he was named All Pro as a rookie and last season as a return specialist, averaging an impressive career 30.4 yards per kick return with a total of 5 return touchdowns.

Patterson has played in all 16 games in all four of his National Football League seasons, although he has gone long stretches of not being featured in the offense, including catching just two passes in 2015. Running back-turned-cornerback-turned-running back Taiwan Jones and running back Jalen Richard shared those duties last season.
