We may not have to wait much longer, though. "When our keepers bend down to look underneath, they snap a photo for development comparison", the keepers said.

A NY zoo's livestream video of its pregnant giraffe is back online after being temporarily interrupted when high winds knocked out power across the region.

"April continues to have us all on edge; when will it be - we just don't know!" the zoo wrote in the post. Temperatures are in the single digits in NY over the weekend, so April and her partner Oliver will be inside more.

While sharing updates on April's labor, the zoo also shared trivia about the way giraffes sleep. "They sleep 10 minutes to 2 hours a day; comprised of short cat naps".

The upstate NY zoo said their keeper team captured the calf "kicking out", a hopeful sign. This is April's fourth calf and she has never lost a calf nor had a stillborn, according to the zoo.

Once the calf is born, the zoo will hold a contest to name it. Her first calf, Oliver, is now 5 years old.
