Fellaini very happy since Mourinho arrived at Man Utd — INSIDER

For that reason it can be argued Matic is the Premier League's most influential midfielder and at the heart of most of Mourinho's plans.

A Premier League spokesman told Omnisport: "Premier League clubs today met and discussed the future development of the League".

Matic has looked the part for Manchester United this season and has been a key player behind their good start to the season with his commanding performances in the middle of the park. Watford and Crystal Palace were both thrashed, Bournemouth were narrowly beaten away, and Everton pinched a point at the Etihad.

The Red Devils are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013 this season.

Last season, expectations were of a similar nature after the Old Trafford outfit won their opening three games.

It is significant that United scored four against West Ham and Everton.

"A phone call from Jose Mourinho two summers ago persuaded him that this manager believes in him". That 3-2 defeat at home to Burnley on the opening day remains the ugliest stain on their record, while Arsenal's first positive result at Stamford Bridge since 2011 doesn't look brilliant for Antonio Conte's men, either.

"He likes to dominate the opposition, outnumber the opposition in midfield, he likes to win the ball in the final third and push eight, nine players in the final third".

"To defend as well as possible and concede less goals, that's the aim for all of us".

"Everybody knows how Mourinho works and I know Fellaini pretty well and I knew it would be a match made in heaven. So for me, it has to be Matic".

But in terms of the importance to Manchester United, he's the one for me.

Liverpool's poor start to the season has seen them fail to keep pace with the standard they set last campaign, which earned them a top-four finish.

"You have to take advantage of every opportunity the manager gives you".
